It seems possible that I was premature in this...

The Illumos Project intends to provide the basis for ongoing community support, and is effectively the basis for a fork, should that be necessary.

Clearly it does improve my ability to "add reflections." (It's worth noting that I have a half-dozen topics sitting on my iPod waiting to get further filled in!)

What is a bit disappointing is that it seems to dramatically shorten those reflections. Evidently, it is rather more expensive to add words using "iTouch typing" than with a keyboard, which means I attach fewer words. There's something regrettable about that.

Even so, it's better to blog once or twice a week as opposed to once or twice a year! :-)

Apparently there have been Rather Significant Changes to DBD::Pg. I rolled back to an earlier version, and all is well with Autodoc.

Comment on Slony-I DDL problem by cbbrowne

Actually, while it is a "deep" enough problem, the solution is not as worrisome as I had initially thought...

The initial trouble was that we are running DDL in "local" mode (as opposed to "replication" or "origin"), and, in that case, the triggers set up to deny access (e.g. - to protect replicated tables against being accidentally updated) would fire, rejecting the updates.

The easy answer is to modify the trigger function to detect that we are running in "local" mode, and accept the change, if that is the case, rather than failing.

Some things aren't as scary as they, at first, may seem!
